A new house is proposed in The South Downs National Park with views down the English Channel. The brief is for a sustainability strategy that integrates passive and active environmental design principles into the design in a cost effective manner which maximizes occupant comfort and energy efficiency. An holistic approach embedding key sustainable principles, balancing social, economic and environmental factors and employing technically innovative sustainable design solutions which are at the same time financially feasible. The site is steep and requires multi- layer plans set into the hill.
